PokeRadar

Did you buy Pokemon Diamond or Pearl then got the Pokeradar but doesn’t know what it does? This explanation should help you. First of all, what is a pokeradar? The pokeradar is a Radar system in pokemon Diamond and Pearl that you obtain from Prof. Oak after completing the Shinohdex. What it does is find pokemon that would normaly not be in that area for example Nidoran (male and female) in route 201, right above Twinleaf Town. Sadly, it also picks up pokemon that are normally there such as Starly.

When you use it in tall grass the grass will wiggle indicating that there is a pokemon there. The more viciously it wiggles the rarer the pokemon, however, if the patch of grass sparkles it’s a shiny (A shiny pokemon is a different coloured version of a pokemon they are extremely rare. A Nidoran (Male) is normally purple, but a shiny Nidoran (Male) is blue see blue houndoom for example) pokemon! Now for how you can use it.Chaining is a great way to increase your chances of finding a shiny pokemon, however, you have to find around 20-or more of the same pokemon with the radar in a row. This can be quite difficult. If you do something wrong your chain will break and you’ll have to start over. Now you should know what NOT to do when chaining or using the radar. When chaining/using the pokeradar you should NEVER use your bike not even when recharging the radar (It has to be recharged after every use by walking 50 steps) this will immediately break your chain. You should avoid corner patches (see picture with finger in it), for some reason when you battle a pokemon in one your chain is very likely to break. Also, never go out of the radar’s range your chain will break if you do. That’s what the Pokeradar does and can be used for.
